cooking, Yosemite-style

We went to Yosemite the other weekend, to get out of the city and play in the snow.  From previous experience, we knew there were little food choices up there in the winter, so we came prepared with a stocked cooler and hotplate.

The canvas-sided tent we rented for the night did not have an extra outlet, like I thought, but did have a heater.  We cautiously unpluged it, to plug our hotplate in, and enjoyed hot soup, crackers, aged gouda, and salami.  In the morning, we enjoyed some hot cocoa, thanks to our hotplate, and various cold cereals that we do not normally allow in our house(cinnamon toast crunch, cookie crisp), for a special treat.

Can’t wait for next year!!
