OpenDaily Food Tip #4

Tip number four:
Eat one whole grain with every meal.  Current research shows that eating whole grains is important for preventing heart disease, diabetes and certain types of cancer.  Keeping whole grain products on hand that you enjoy and are comfortable cooking with is essential.  Brown rice can easily replace white rice in most dishes.  The quick cooking quinoa only takes 15 minutes and is ultra-versatile.  Oats are a healthy way to start the day, and soba noodles, made with buckwheat, can replace traditional noodles in many recipes.  Or go for easy and opt for corn tortillas instead of white flour, or switch out your white bread for whole wheat.  Whole grains are nutrient-dense, fiber-rich, and supply sustained energy.
