Back to the school garden

It’s our second week back to school, here in LA.  We’ve begun to settle back into our regularly scheduled work/school routines.  Having a little extra time on my day off, I decided to get the kids outside to plant some fall seeds.  This being their fourth year planting a school garden, it was quick easy work.  They helped till the dirt, dig out the rows, and finally, plant the seeds.  We planted pumpkin, winter squash, lima beans, salad greens, and calendula (to make salve later in the year).  Can’t wait to see the little green sprouts peep up out of the dirt!  Maybe we’ll even have some baby pumpkins for Halloween!
