My husband and I planted fruit trees in our schoolyard last year, and our first stone-fruit tree has given us fruit! Peaches!!!
Ours is an early variety, so the fruit is ready in May. They are small fruit, but for being the tree’s first year, we’re not complaining. The tree made over 15 blooms, but only 6 or so made it to maturity. I was able to savor the first one; first it’s warm fuzzy skin, then it’s fragrant aroma, and finally it’s sweet warm juiciness. Perfect! Tastes just like summer.
So exciting! Love your description of eating the first one!
