Discover. Cook. Nourish. : Bringing Whole Foods into our Schools

Whole foods cooking in school cafeterias?!  Am I dreaming??  I recently read that our friends at Cookus Interruptus were working on this project, but without details.  Today arrived the details!  and it’s beautiful, inspiring and wonderful!  Watch the video in the link below.

Discover. Cook. Nourish.

Not sure what I’m taking about?  Read the description here:

“Cynthia designed the curriculum for these 8-hour workshops for school food service workers as part of a national grant (CPPW – Communities Putting Prevention to Work).

The workshops teach school food service workers how to cook with whole foods. It’s hands on!  Aprons, knives and food. The reasearch and reasoning behind using whole foods is taught via power point presentations as part of the workshop.”

As Cynthia says in the video, this is very exciting because this sort of change coincides with efforts across the country.  Jaime Oliver in Los Angeles, Michelle Obama in Washington DC, Alice Waters in the Bay Area, Two Angry Moms on the East Coast, among many others.  People are starting to realize the importance of a healthy school lunch and are doing something about it.

What changes are you making in your home or community?
